Yesterday at 2 pm EST., the Xtreme Football League (XFL) officially relaunched. Many were doubting about the relaunching of the XFL. Since the league originally ended in 2001, the XFL has made numerous amounts of changes for the betterment of the league. CEO Oliver Luck is leading a strong product that fans in the stadium seats. The league kicks off with the Seattle Dragons vs. the DC Defenders. Both teams played a hard game, however, the Defenders were victorious, with a 31-19 victory. The Defenders start their season 1-0.
The DC Defenders marched out on their home field and made a name for themselves. The season kick-off went well. The Defenders played well throughout all four quarters. The formers Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones controlled his offense and was able to use his teammates to put points on the board. Jones led his team back from a one-point deficient to a 12 point gain. Jones The defense also had two interceptions that changed the momentum of the game. The offense was able to change the lead to 31 points. The defense was able to hold the Dragons to 19 points.
The Seattle Dragons traveled to DC for their season-opener game. The Dragons had a decent start. The offense and defense were intact. By the half, they were leading 13 to 12. Quarterback, Brandon Silvers completed 11 out of 19 passes for 96 yards in the first half. The Dragons began struggling after the half. They were able to score one more touchdown in the third quarter, however, that was the last time they scored. The Dragons turned over the ball three times during Saturday’s game.
The DC Defenders need to prepare to take on the New York Guardians on February 15th. The New York Guardians have a strong defense that was able to control the Tampa Bay Vipers the entire game. With a solid defense and an intact offense, the Defenders can move to a 2-0 record. The Dragons need to spend this week preparing for their home opener against the Tampa Bay Vipers. The Dragons need to focus on getting their first win.
