Player To Watch: Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina

Who Is Sam Howell?

Sam Howell was born on December 16, 2000, Sam Howell attended Sun Valley High School in Monroe North Carolina.  During his high school career, he passed for 13,415 yards, 145 passing touchdowns and rushed for 3,621 yards and 60 touchdowns. After a highly publicized recruitment, Howell committed to the University Of North Carolina after deciding not to play for Florida State University, his original choice.

Why Is Sam Howell A Player To Watch?

Here is why Sam Howell is a player to watch because of his arm strength but also Sam Howell also has more touchdowns than Trevor Lawrence. Sam Howell also had a decent completion percentage this year and I think he can do better with time. Also head coach Mack Brown has a good history with quarterbacks. Mack Brown also recruited Vince Young as well, but Sam Howell is a sophomore quarterback and also the same offensive coaches are coming back this year. As a result,  Sam Howell can learn to be better because Howell has had a year to learn the offensive system already.

I’m more impressed by Howell’s quick adjustment to the college game from high school. I think Sam Howell can be the best quarterback in the ACC or in college football after Trevor Lawrence leaves for the NFL. Since coach Mack Brown is a great coach and recruiter, if he can recruit receivers for Sam Howell to throw to, Howell can be one of the best quarterbacks in college football this season.
