Saturday evening, the Burgh Defenders will take on the West Virginia Roughriders. The first Defenders vs Roughriders matchup between these two teams in game one of the season was an absolute and utter bloodbath for the Defenders; they fell 95-18.
I do not see this game being much different sadly, by the looks of it they may have gotten worse actually. They are trying out for a new quarterback in Jaquan Green, after all, others were either cut or released. Alex Noble is the primary offensive guys when he gets the ball he is great, but that is ‘when’ he gets the ball.
The main defensive player appears to be a new asset, Cory Ford he is a great secondary man and shuts guys down. But there has to be more understanding on the entire defense. I am not giving up on the Defenders even as to it appears that most other people have, looking at film, sure they look rough but if they put their heads together with a team they can be a lot better.
The Roughriders are a very dangerous team in the AAL; a lot of sources have them ranked number one overall. The “Swiss Army Knife” Anthony Prevost is going to be the guy to watch here, he plays all over the field, he is a kicker, wide receiver and fits in any role that he can. Larry Beavers will also be fun to watch; he was a nightmare for the Defenders in week one.
I do indeed think that the Defenders will be in for another rough one, after the showing the had against a much, much smaller team the Reading Raptors.
The Defenders vs Roughriders game will start at 7:00 PM.
As a prediction, I’m going to say Burgh Defenders 20 – West Virginia Roughriders 70.
