In a shocking turn of events on the Smackdown following the Crown Jewel PPV event in Saudi Arabia, Brock Lesnar appeared with his advocate Paul Heyman to announce that he would be quitting Smackdown. See how it all went down in the video below:

Lesnar quitting Smackdown to go to RAW comes as a shock for many reasons. Here’s a list of a few of those reasons:

  1. Brock Lesnar was HIGHLY requested by FOX.
It is no secret that when it came to FOX wanting to be a more sports-oriented show, that they would call on the skillset and character of the most decorated combat athlete in Sports Entertainment history. The bottom line here is that Brock Lesnar is a super athlete. Not only that, Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest if not the biggest box office attraction in Sports Entertainment. He sells tickets and puts butts in seats.
  2. Brock Lesnar is the reason Kofi Kingston’s WWE Title Reign came to an end.
To add to my last point, FOX really wanted Brock Lesnar. So much so that they gave Brock Lesnar the WWE Title right off the bat. On the debut episode of Smackdown on FOX, Brock Lesnar squashed Kofi Kingston in a match that lasted under 10 seconds to win the WWE Championship. They wanted Brock as champion to draw viewers and add to the intensity of the competition.
  3. The WWE Title and the Universal Title
When the Universal Title was created, it’s purpose was to serve as Monday Night RAW’s Heavyweight Championship because the WWE Championship had been drafted to Smackdown that year leaving RAW without a Heavyweight Title. That was back in 2016. The Universal Title has been exclusive to RAW ever since.

With all of that being said, the idea is that Brock would stay on Smackdown. Especially with the fact that he was carrying their respective championship. But now, that is not the case. This being the reality, it is speculated that Brock Lesnar will officially become a RAW superstar and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will be bringing the Universal Title to Smackdown.

This speculation seems to have been brought to light on the following episode of Monday Night RAW. On the RAW following Brock Lesnar quitting Smackdown, Lesnar showed up to hunt down Mysterio and repay him for the attack that he suffered at Crown Jewel. Later that night, in a backstage interview, Seth Rollins (the former Universal Champion) revealed that Bray Wyatt would be taking the Universal Title to RAW. It was also revealed that the USA Network and Monday RAW would be “absorbing” Brock Lesnar’s contract meaning that he would be an official member of the Monday Night RAW roster.

How do you feel about this transition? Do you prefer to see Brock Lesnar on Friday Night Smackdown or on Monday Night RAW? Who do you think will be the first Smackdown superstar to challenge “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship?
