STAMFORD, Conn. (Ambush Sports) — World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced Tuesday that Samoa Joe has been suspended from action for 30 days as a result of violating their wellness policy, his first offense in his tenure with the organization as a contracted wrestler. The suspension went into effect Monday.
Joe (real name: Nuufolau Seanoa) has been away from WWE programming over the past several weeks due to an injury and was last seen in a feud alongside Kevin Owens against the “Monday Night Messiah” Seth Rollins and his group of disciples on Monday Night Raw.
WWE’s wellness policy is enacted to address the overall health and well-being of their talent with independently administered tests by medical professionals, such as cardiovascular testing, impact testing for brain function, annual physicals, health care referrals, and drug testing for potential drug, alcohol and substance abuse.
According to UPI’s Wade Sheridan, Andrade Almas (real name: Manuel Oropeza) was placed on suspension January 28 and will be eligible for WWE action as early as Friday.
Samoa Joe will be eligible to return to WWE action as early as March 24.
