Week two of the XFL season is in the books, and it had a lot of great football action. The Houston Roughnecks and DC Defenders both won again and look to be the top two teams in the league. With great play comes great players, and here are week two’s offensive and defensive players of the week.
Offensive Player Of The Week
Name a better duo than PJ Walker and Cam Phillips. Not even gonna bother waiting cos you won’t be able to do it…

Cam Phillips had a heck of a game catching eight passes for 63 yards on ten targets. Phillips made most of his catches count, catching three touchdown passes to help the Roughnecks beat the St. Louis Battlehawks 28-25 on Sunday night. Through the first two weeks of the season, Cam Phillips has 12 catches for 130 yards on 18 targets. Also, Phillps has four touchdown receptions on the season. Playing in June Jones system Phillips will have an opportunity to catch a lot of passes this season. The Roughnecks receiver is currently fourth in the XFL in receiving yards.
Defensive Player Of The Week
Ambush Sports had a tight race for Week Two’s Defensive Player of The Week, but Tampa Bay’s Marcelis Branch takes home that honor. The 0-2 Vipers may not have looked pretty so far this season, but that has nothing to do with the defensive play. Branch helped lead the Vipers defense that held the Seattle Dragons offense to less than 200 yards (199) and an abysmal 20% 3rd down conversion rate. Branch’s performance was incredible, leading the entire XFL in combined tackles in week two with 12. Add in his one sack and two additional tackles for loss, and one can see how the Ambush Staff selected the Free Safety out of Robert Morris as our Defensive Player of the Week!
