UC Davis Aggies That Made The Big Sky All-Conference Teams

UC Davis Big Sky

The UC Davis Aggies season did not go as expected, they started the season as the No.4 team in the FCS, but finished the season with 5-7 record. While it was a disappointing season, the team did have some Big Sky All-Conference players. Freshman Nick Eaton was selected as Big Sky Freshman of the year.

First Team

Devon King  Cornerback

Devon King was one of the Aggie’s best defensive players this season. King finished second on the team in tackles with 77, including 5.5 for a loss. The Sophmore corner also had five pass breakups and three interceptions on the season. King was a big tackler and forced three fumbles this year. I look forward to King being a more, dominate cornerback next year for UC Davis.

Second Team

Ulonzo Gilliam  Running Back

Ulonzo Gilliam rushed for 1,249 yards and 11 touchdowns, Gilliam also caught 57 passes for 354 yards and one touchdown. He led the Aggie’s in receptions this season. Gilliam is a do it all running back; it was fun to see him play this year.

Wes Preece  Tight End

Wes Preece caught 36 passes for 434 yards and two touchdowns. Preece wraps up his college career fifth on Aggie’s all-time receiving touchdown list. The tight end has 109 career catches in his career at UC Davis. Preece was a sure-handed tight end and could be counted to make the big catches.

Nick Eaton  Outside Linebacker

As well as making the second team, Nick Eaton also was voted Big Sky Freshman of the Year. Eaton finished the season with 56 tackles and 12 tackles for a loss. He also had 6.5 sacks and forced five fumbles on the season. Eaton also played well in coverage, with six passes defended. In the game against Cal Poly, Eaton made a great play intercepting a pitch play and taking 78 yards for a touchdown. Eaton won two Root SportsDefensive Player of the Week awards and an FCS National Freshman of the Week this season. Eaton is only going to get better in his time at UC Davis.

Third Team

Daniel Whelan

Daniel Whelan averaged 44.7 yards per punt with a long of 62. Whelan kicked 23 punts inside the 20-yard line that is amazing for a punter. Whelan will be punting in the NFL next season.

Honorable Mention

Jake Maier  Quarterback

Jake Maier capped off his time at UC Davis, passing for 3,563 yards and 28 touchdowns. Maier completed 65 percent of his passes on the season. He threw for 300 yards six times for the Aggies in 2019. Maier ends his career with the Aggies as the school’s all-time career leader in attempts (1,495), completions (992), and passing yards (11,163). What a great college career for Maier.

Khris Vaughn  Wide Receiver

Kris Vaughn stepped up when Carson Crawford went down due to injury, Vaughn caught 53 passes and led the Aggie’s in receiving yards with 756 yards. Also, Vaughn hauled in nine touchdown passes. He posted three games of over 100 yards receiving.

Bryce Rodgers  Defensive Tackle

Bryce Rodgers finished his season with four sacks and six tackles for a loss. He also had 49 total tackles. Rodgers had a career-high 11 tackles against Weber State in October.

Jordan Ford  Guard

Jordan ford was apart of an offensive line that allowed only 14 sack on 524 pass attempts. Ford took over the starting guard spot early in the season and did not look back.
