At the Crown Jewel PPV on October 31st, 2019, in Saudi Arabia, WWE presented what was known as “The Largest Tag Team Turmoil Match To Determine The World Cup For The Best Tag Team In The World.” This Tag Team Turmoil Match featured nine different tag teams. The teams involved in the match are listed below:
- Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
- Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
- The OC
- The Lucha House Party
- The Viking Raiders (RAW Tag Team Champions)
- The B Team
- Heavy Machinery
- The Revival (Smackdown Tag Team Champions)
- The New Day
A Tag Team Turmoil match, in its entirety, is a Gauntlet Match in a tag team format. Two teams begin the match in the ring with the goal of eliminating the other team and fighting to be the last team standing. If you’re the first two teams in the match, the odds prove to be against you in making it to the end. This proved to be true as neither of the beginning teams made it to the final round. The final two teams remaining in the match turned out to be the OC and the RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders. After a grueling matchup between the two teams, The OC prevailed with a Magic Killer pinning the Viking Raiders to win the World Cup.
I feel that in this situation, with the teams that were featured in the match, The OC winning was the best outcome. Gallows & Anderson have made waves in the Tag Team Division from the moment that they debuted in WWE with AJ Styles back in 2016. Since they, they have had multiple dominant runs and have been multiple time WWE Tag Team Champions. Not only that, Gallows & Anderson are both well known for their time overseas as a dominant tag team in Japan. With their dominant experience in both WWE and around the world, The OC deserved to be named the “Best Tag Team In The World” at WWE Crown Jewel.
Hear what The OC had to say following their victory in the World Cup here:
How do you feel about The OC winning the World Cup and being crowned “The Greatest Tag Team In The World”? Do you agree? Who would you have booked to win the World Cup at Crown Jewel?
