Sunday evening was the start of the 2019 WNBA Finals. The WNBA Finals consist of the Washington Mystics and the Connecticut Sun. Several led changes took place on Sunday’s game. Both teams played very well. The Mystics beat the Sun 95 to 86.
The Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun played a very hard game, however, they came up short. The three leading ladies on the Sun are the following; Courtney M. Williams, Alyssa Thomas, and Shekinna Sticklen. Courtney M. Williams led her team in scoring. Williams played for 38 minutes and within those 38 minutes, she scored 26 points, had five rebounds and five assists. Alyssa Thomas led her team in rebounds and assists. Thomas played for 40 minutes and within 40 minutes, she had six assists, six rebounds and scored 20 points. Shekinna Sticklen played for 32 minutes and within those 32 minutes, she scored 13 points, had two rebounds and one assist.
The Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics did not have an easy victory. The Sun did not quit during game one. The Mystics leading ladies are the following; Elena Delle Donne, Natasha Cloud, and Ariel Atkins. The 2019 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne has been continuing to show the world why she is this year’s MVP. She led the Mystics in points and rebounds. Donne played for 36 minutes and within those 36 minutes, she scored 22 points, had 10 rebounds and five assists. Natasha Cloud led her team in assists. Cloud played for 38 minutes and within those 38 minutes, she had seven assists, four rebounds and scored 13 points. Ariel Atkins played for 24 minutes and within those 24 minutes, she scored 21 points, had five rebounds and one assist.
The Mystics and the Sun are back in action for Game 2. tonight at 8 pm. The ladies will be playing in Washington DC.
