On Saturday night some huge news broke within regards to the Alliance American Football League. Former Heisman winner Johnny Manziel signed with the Memphis Express. The Memphis Express season has been a struggle. The Express has a record of 1-5 and being the worst team in the league. With all the issues with the Express, the hope is Manziel will be an asset.
Manziel was the first-round pick for the Cleveland Browns and was suppose to be the new face of the Cleveland franchise. Manziel went to play for the CFL and played with the Montreal Alouettes. The CFL was not a good fit for Manziel. However, he is now back to be a quarterback in the States. ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned that the Express lost their quarterback Zach Mettenberger. This is the perfect time to sign Manzsiel.

According to ESPN Staff Writer, Michael Rothstein wrote Christian Hackenberg started the Express’ first three games but was relieved by Zach Mettenberger, who was injured Saturday and replaced by Brandon Silvers. Silvers completed 23 of 37 passes for 242 yards, a touchdown and zero interceptions against Salt Lake. Which shows that the quarterback position is Memphis has been an ongoing problem. The game plan is to bring Manziel to Memphis to turn this team around. We will all wait and see how this new addition works out.
