Four Keys To Victory For The Los Angeles Wildcats

The Los Angeles Wildcats are coming off a 37-17 loss to the Houston Roughnecks last week in their XFL opener. The Dallas Renegades also lost as well 15-9 to the St. Louis Battlehawks. Both teams are looking forward to their starting quarterback to return to the starting lineup. For the Wildcats, Josh Johnson seems to be on track to make his first start on the season. As for the Renegades, Landry Jones will get the starting nod.
Run the ball
With Landry Jones at quarterback this week, yo have got to think Hal Mumme’s offense will score more than nine points. It will be up to the Wildcats offense to run the ball and keep Jones on the sideline. Look for Wildcats running back Elijah Hood to play a critical factor in this game. Dallas gave 191 rushing yards last week to St. Louis.
Pressure the quarterback
The Wildcats defense will need to pressure Jones, last week their defense did not get much pressure on P.J Walker, which led to him shredding the Wildcats defense. Last week the Renegades gave up four sacks against the Battlehawks. I think Shawn Oakman could have a big day for the Wildcats defense; he had one sack last week and a tackle for loss. Oakman plays with tremendous speed and power.
Protect the quarterback
Last week against the Roughnecks, the Wildcats offensive line allowed five sacks and 16 quarterback hits, that can not be allowed this weekend. Los Angeles offensive line must do a better job giving their quarterback time to pass if given time to pass Johnson or whoever plays quarterback has some weapons to throw the ball to, Nelson Spruce is the leading receiver for the Wildcats. Last week, Spruce had 11 catches for 103 yards.
Don’t turn the ball over
Last week the Wildcats turned the ball over four times when you turn the ball over that many times you’re going to lose.
Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Wildcats fired defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson and defensive captain Anthony Johnson was traded. It looks like head coach Winston Moss will take over defensive play-calling duties against the Renegades. He will have his hands full with Hal Mumme’s system.
