Most Bucs fans already know how well Peyton Barber can run the pigskin. His electrifying runs, and the effort he puts in on the field looks unmatched. Although his 3.7 Yards Per Carry is something to worry about, the average fan should not forget that Peyton ran behind the 20th best offensive line last season.
Luckily, Tampa Bay made the addition of veteran Earl Watford who can play multiple spots on the O-Line. Watford has quickly become a fan favorite by saying “There is a reason why I’m here. It’d be a waste of time to sign me if I wasn’t going to work and do the job I’m paid to do at the highest level. Could’ve drafted or signed 10 guys. Competition is fun and I like taking jobs.” Him along with Ali Marpet, the offensive line should look a lot better this season.
Peyton Barber also has a better coaching staff. Bruce and Leftwich have helped David Johnson carve out a successful career and ran a great rushing attack from 2013-2017. The Bucs receivers are good enough to open up the run game so expect a lot of play action passes next season.
My prediction for Barber next year is 250+ attempts and 1000+ yards. Hopefully, Ronald Jones gets more playing time which would allow Tampa to have their best one-two punch since 2002’s Mike Alstott and Michael Pittman.
