Charlotte Flair Wins Smackdowns Women’s Title in Shocking Turn of Events

Charlotte Flair Smackdown title

On Tuesday, March 26th, 2019, Charlotte Flair challenged Asuka for the WWE Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship. This seemed to come as a shock to a lot of people including the commentators. This was no doubt a hard fought match up! To everyone’s surprise, Charlotte managed to pick up the victory just two weeks before Wrestlemania. At this point in time, I don’t think anybody saw this coming. If you want to talk about unpredictability, this is it.

With this victory, Charlotte Flair has now become the one and only 8-time Women’s champion in WWE history. The previous record for most women’s titles was held by Trish Stratus with a 7-time title reign.

Following the match, Charlotte had this to say on Twitter:

This post was met with a variety of reactions. From shocked, to upset, to frustrated, the comment section saw it all. With Charlotte picking up the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship so close to Wrestlemania, speculation is flying EVERYWHERE! Rightfully so. Charlotte Flair is scheduled to fight in the first ever women’s main event Wrestlemania Match this year against Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship.

Now that Charlotte Flair has captured the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship, what does this mean for the women’s main event of Wrestlemania? Will Charlotte Flair be pulled from the main event to defend her title in a separate match on the card? Will she challenge Asuka in a rematch for the title at Wrestlemania? Or will she remain in the main event holding the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship?

This victory leaves a lot of questions heading into the show of shows. How do you feel about Charlotte winning the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship? How do you think this is going to play out in regards to this year’s Wrestlemania?
