Panthers fans wake up stunned to a crazy Tuesday morning. Just when Panthers fans thought all the Cam Newton drama was over and he was for sure to come back next year, Panthers announced that Cam Newton was allowed to be in trade talks. Unfortunately, though, the drama keeps coming, and Newton’s response to this statement is frustrating to everyone involved in the Panthers organization.
Panthers Official Statement And Cams Kickback
A statement surfaced from the Panthers saying, “We have given Cam Newton permission to seek a trade.” This came as a shock for fans, waking up to see their franchise quarterback could potentially be traded, but it didn’t stop there. In a comment section of the Panthers post, Cam Newton wrote, “Stop with the wordplay!! I never asked for it!! There is no dodging this one; I love the Panthers to death and will always love you guys!! Please do not try and play me, or manipulate the narrative and act like I wanted this; you forced me into this!!”
Panthers Are Signing QB Teddy Bridgewater
Panthers fans are left asking, “What just happened?!” In a matter of two hours, we went from Cam is our definite quarterback and will ride out with him for at least another year, to we’re considering trading Cam, to signing another quarterback to fill his role. Teddy Bridgewater comes into free agency after spending a little while with Drew Brees in New Orleans and even started a few games when Brees was hurt. The deal is expected to be around 3-Years $60M.
This is definitely a decent deal compared to other quarterback deals like Ryan Tannehill just signed a deal that will average $29.5M a year compared to just $20M a year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a big move made in the next few days that decides Cam Newton’s future and if it’s in Charlotte or not.
