Key Players In UC Davis Win Over Portland State

The UC Davis Aggies led by Ulonzo Gilliam and Jake Maier beat the Portland State Vikings 45-28. The Win moves the Aggies record to 5-5 over and 3-3 in conference play. This win keeps the Aggies alive in the playoff race.

The Aggies offense was impressive in against the Vikings; they racked up a season-high 649 total yards. UC Davis came out firing on offense; the running game with Gilliam was working, and Maier was on point passing.



Jake Maier

Jake Maier played a great game; he threw for 383 yards on 27 out of 38 passing. Also, he threw for four touchdown passes. Maier was on point most of the game; he completed passes to nine different receivers keeping the Vikings defense off balance. Maier has another 3,000 season under his belt with 3,057 passing yards. He also has a total of 27 touchdown passes.

Ulonzo Gilliam

Ulonzo Gilliam had a career day running the ball; he rushed for  243 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. It was the fifth-highest rushing total in UC Davis history. Along with the rushing yards, Gilliam averaged 8.3 yards per carry. Gilliam ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Aggies a 24-14 lead. With his Career game, Gilliam now has 1,055 rushing yards for the season.

Lance Babb II

Babb is another player that had a career day with his ten catches 168 yards and three touchdowns. Babb caught Maier’s first touchdown pass of the game with a 26-yard pass. With UC Davis up by only three points, Babb caught a 23-yard pass to put, the Aggies up 31-21. His longest touchdown was a 44-yard pass from Maier. Maier and Babb were clicking all day.

Khris Vaughn

Khris Vaughn caught five passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. Maier hit Vaughn on an outstanding 58-yard touchdown pass when Vaught jumped and took the ball away from defended than ran it in for the touchdown. That touchdown pushed the Aggie lead to 38-28. Khris Vaughn leads the Aggies in receiving yards (593) and touchdown catches (8).


Nick Eaton

Nick Eaton played an excellent defensive game; he had eight tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. Eaton is a heck of a player and leads the Aggies with 6.5 and forced fumbles with 5. Nick Eaton has been a bright spot for the Aggies defense


Brandon Jamison

Brandon Jamison had five tackles and two sacks. The sacks were his first two of the season.
