Trent Williams Expected To Hold Out From Redskins Camp

Trent Williams

Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams is not expected to attend training camp. Williams missed all of June’s mini-camps.

Williams is not happy with his contract and the Redskins medical team. If Williams does not show up to training camp, he can be fined up to 40,000 each day and one week of the regular season game salary if he misses a preseason game.

Trent Williams seems to be serious about his hold out. If Washington does not try and meet his demands, it will not be suitable for them. Williams is seven-time Pro Bowler and one the best tackles in the NFL. If Williams does not play the Redskins will have to depend on former Giants left tackle Ereck Flowers, that not good at all. With rookie Dwayne Haskins possibly starting, the Redskins do not need Flowers to start at left tackle.

Washington could be hesitant to give Williams more money because of his health situation; therefore, Williams still will need to be cleared to play. The seven-time Pro Bowler had a tumor or growth removed from his scalp this offseason. He has to years left on his deal, and none of the 27 million left on his contract is guaranteed. It will be interesting to see how all this turns out for the Redskins and Williams.
