BREAKING: McMahon Confirms Women’s Tag Team Titles for 2019

If you’ve been keeping up with the WWE recently, you already know that the McMahon Family has “turned over a new leaf” and has “taken back” Monday Night RAW. Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, HHH, and Shane McMahon are now collaboratively running both RAW and Smackdown LIVE.

They’ve done away with General Managers and Commissioners and they have assumed control placing the fate of the WWE in the hands of the WWE Universe. HHH literally said: “as of now, YOU are the authority.” The goal here is to start giving the WWE Universe less of what they don’t want and more of what they do want to ensure that WWE will truly be around “Then, Now and Forever.”

Beyond that, if you’ve been keeping up with WWE in recent years, you’ve witnessed the growing phenomenon that started as the “Women’s Revolution” and has evolved into the “Women’s Evolution”. (Pun intended). So many things have happened since the start of that revolution. We’ve seen women do things in the WWE that we would have never expected years ago. In the past few years alone we’ve seen HUGE first ever Women’s matches such as a Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, TLC AND more! Talk about an equal opportunity. These women have been fighting for opportunities like this for a LONG time.

That brings me to now. On the Christmas Eve episode of Monday Night RAW, the one and only “Mr. McMahon-ta Claus” paid us a visit to deliver some pretty hefty Christmas Gifts. In this fun to watch promo, Mr. McMahon (dressed up as Santa) made three major announcements.

The first announcement he made included the return of John Cena to LIVE WWE Programming. This announcement was a little unexpected for a few reasons but I will get into that in a separate article. Another announcement that Vince made was a Steel Cage match featuring Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre that will be taking place on the final RAW of 2018 which just so happens to be on New Year’s Eve. That seems promising.

The third announcement is one that came as quite the surprise. This is where the “Women’s Evolution” comes into play. During this promo as Santa, Vince confirmed that in 2019 we would officially be getting WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships for the first time EVER in WWE history. THIS IS HUGE! Over the past few months, we have seen an unusual amount of tag team action happening in the Women’s Division on both RAW and Smackdown LIVE.

Since these matches started occurring more often, the speculation of the titles has been circling around EVERYWHERE. There was even an instance recently where Bayley had actually said the words “WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions” during an interview with Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks on RAW.

Well, now it’s official. In 2019, we WILL see the FIRST EVER WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. With this announcement being made there are a few questions on the table. When exactly will we see the championships for the first time? What will they look like? How will they come into play? What new Women’s Tag Team will come to life? Who will be the FIRST EVER WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions?

How are you feeling about the recent changes in WWE? Do you think this new era will last? Let us know in the comments and on our social media pages.
