The Arizona Hotshots could be the top team in the western division of the Alliance of American Football. With a ton of NFL and college talent on the roster, the Hotshots can bring great professional football back to Arizona once again.
This team is full of great leaders on both sides of the ball. Players like Arizona Wildcat, Scooby Wright, bring physicality and energy to the field on defense. While the Hotshots’ offense will be led by Trevor Knight, the former Oklahoma Sooner. Knight had brief stints with the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons after losing his starting role at Texas A&M to Baker Mayfield. The same Mayfield that would go on to become the first pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
The quarterback room will be full of Hotshot quarterbacks who can all lead the team to victory. Former 2016 Wuerffel Trophy winner Trevor Knight, who is almost certain to win the starting role, has a great arm and an impressive ability to read a defense.
Quarterback Jack Heneghan is a guy I followed throughout his college career at Dartmouth and his preseason stint with the 49ers. Possibly the most accurate quarterback of the four, Heneghan would do great in this offense. The only downfall is that his arm isn’t as big as Knight’s, dropping him to number two on the depth chart.
Another player I like a lot, Quinn McQueary, came out of a small NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school, Montana Tech. Here he set program records like his 414 passing yards in a game. He has a pretty good arm but his accuracy can waiver at times. His ability to scramble in the pocket when needed can be a big asset if his number gets called.
Last up, John Wolford is another guy I see so much potential in. Wolford is a Wake Forest alumni and he a had a stint with the Jets earlier this year. The former Demon Deacon could become a great asset with these guys. I think Wolford and Heneghan are a lot alike on the field. But I think Heneghan is a bit more advanced than Wolford. All in all this quarterback room is full of talent! They should lead a great inaugural season for the Hotshots of Arizona!
