Carlow Softball Gears Up for 2020

The Carlow Celtics will be looking to come back from a 20-21 win-loss record from last year. The team has always been notably good thought out the years and even last year, made the USCAA Small School College World Series. They advanced to the final eight teams before being eliminated.

The Celtics were ranked sixth in the coaches poll for the River States Conference this year. The Celtics should climb up the ranks this season. They have very talented players that are coming to the team, as well as some return players.

The Carlow softball losses will be Abby Stroud, the First Team All-RSC pitcher, Tristan Voss, the teams leading home run hitter, who hit five home runs, and outfielder Sophia Papageorge.

Stroud last year had an amazing season. She pitched 111.0 innings with a 1.26 ERA and nine wins, and she also had 77 strikeouts on the year.

Coming to the Celtics softball team are some very talented players. McKenna Lampe and Madison Lamp, they lead West Greene High School to the championship three years in a row and won the PIAA state championship twice.

Morgan Nedley is another new Celtic this season, she played for Penn-Trafford and led the team to its first-ever PIAA state championship in the 2019 season!

Returning Players

The Celtics do have a good number of returning players coming back this season, including senior captain Ashley Hoak. Annamarie Osiecki, who was an All-RSC First Team infielder last season, and juniors Olivia Graff, Adrianna Gottheld, and Kasey Wolford. As well as junior Alysa Fairman who pitched great during the fall and contributed with her 12 RBI’s.

What To Look for in 2020

This season you should look for another great season from the Celtics! There are many returning players and new players who should be able to contribute immediately to the team’s success. I’m very excited for some Carlow softball this season!
