The New York Liberty Beat The Indiana Fever 82-76

Last night the New York Liberty traveled to Indiana to take on the Indiana Fever. The Liberty defended the Fever 82 to 76.

Last night the New York Liberty traveled to Indiana to take on the Indiana Fever.  The Liberty came into this game as the underdog. They were on an eight-game losing streak and the Fever were on a winning streak. The Liberty ended up defeating the Fever 82 to 76.

The Liberty was very impressive last night. The ladies ended the slump they were in and played well. The three leading players from the Liberty last nights were Tina Charles, Kia Nurse, and Bria Hartley. The center, Tina Charles played 37 minutes. Within those 37 minutes, Charles scored 20 points, had 14 rebounds and three assists. The forward, Kia Nurse played a total of 35 minutes. Within those 35 minutes, Nurse scored 20 points, had two rebounds and three assists. The guard, Bria Hartley played for 26 minutes. Within those 26 minutes, Hartley scored 16 points, had two rebounds and four assists. The Liberty shot 40% from the field goal. The ladies had an averaged of 42.9% three-pointers. There were a total of 15 turnovers, however, 40 rebounds.

The Fever was on a winning streak before facing the Liberty last night. The standout players on the Fever were Natalie Achonwa, Teaira McCowan and Kennedy Burke. Achonwa played for a total of 21 minutes. Within those 21 minutes, Achonwa scored 11 points, had seven rebounds and zero assists. McCowan led in points last night. She played for 31 minutes. Within those 31 minutes, she scored 24 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. Kennedy Burke played for 27 minutes. Within those 27 minutes, Burke scored 11 points, had five rebounds and one assist. The Fever shot 36.5% from the field goal. The Fever had an averaged of 33.3% three-pointers. There were a total of 8 turnovers, however, 38 rebounds.

The New York Liberty outplayed the Indiana Fever for most of the game. The Fever did make a come back in the fourth quarter. The Fever was originally trailing by 17 points. They were able to shorten that deficient to a six-point defeat.  The Fever will play the Los Angeles Sparks tomorrow night at 10:30 pm. The Liberty will take on the Atlanta Dreams this Friday, August 23rd at 7:30 pm.
