Wayne Rooney and DC United continue to give problems to Orlando City SC. The two teams met, and Orlando City left Audi Field with a loss, thanks to a superb strike by Wayne Rooney from his half. The strike from Rooney is not a first as he has done it before for Manchester United and Everton in the English Premier League. His skill shows why he is still a dangerous striker. Unfortunately, the strike came off a counterattack, and goalkeeper Brian Rowe was for some reason so far off his line that he was able to be caught.
DC United had several more chances to score over the first half, and Rowe was able to keep the ball out of the Orlando City goal. In the second half of the game, Orlando City was able to muster up several good chances on goal. It was not meant to be for the Lions of Orlando. DC United’s Hamid was able to pull off several vital saves.
With the game beginning to wind down, DC United was able to score in the 72nd minute. After a review, the goal was pulled back due to the attacking player being offsides. The game would end 23 minutes later. DC United won thanks to the efforts of Rooney in attack and Hamid in goal. The loss sees Orlando City drop to ninth in the standings and four points away from a playoff spot. The next match is June 29th against the Columbus Crew at Colombus Crew stadium.
