Los Angeles Lakers Clear Cap Space For Max Player


The Los Angeles Lakers have made a move to create a maximum salary slot of $32 million for free agents. The Lakers traded Mo Wagner, Issac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards to make the Anthony Davis trade a three-team deal.

Along, with the trade Davis has agreed to waive his $4 million trade kicker that created additional space for the Los Angeles Lakers to get to $32 million. Also with the three players, the Lakers are sending the Wizards a 2022 second-round draft pick.

Now with the Lakers having a max slot, that opens things up for them. Players like Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Kemba Walker are now in play for the Lakers. Even if those players choose not the sign, the Lakers could use the money to put together a solid stable of role players. The Lakers need to find another ball handler, and some three and D players. They don’t necessarily need a max player, but if one wants to come, you can not say no.

Either way, the Lakers are in the right spot. Just over a month ago it was dim for the Lakers. Magic Johnson steps down and rumors of players not wanting to play for the team. Also, dysfunction in the from office, too many people had a say. Fast forward a couple of weeks, the Anthony Davis trade changes everything. Now the Lakers are back on the map and have options.
