The Los Angeles XFL team has added offensive and defensive Coordinators to there coaching staff. Winston Moss has added Norm Chow as the Offensive Coordinator and Pepper Johnson as the defensive coordinator.

Norm Chow Offensive Coordinator

Norm Chow last head coaching job was at the Unviresityof Hawaii from 2012-2015. In his time there he went 10-36 before being fired. Before that, Chow was an offensive coordinator mostly on the college ranks. Chow has been the offensive coordinator for Utah Utes, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, NC State Wolfpack, and the BYU Cougars. In 2012 he won the award for being college footballs top assistant coach.

Chow spent two seasons in the NFL as the Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2007. Since 2016, Chow has been an assistant coach at Mira Costa High School.

I think Chow is a good hire for Los Angeles; he has good knowledge of the game. He has coached on a lot of different football levels and will bring tons of experience to the coaching staff.

Pepper Johnson Defensive Coordinator

Pepper Johnson is a former NFL player. He played linebacker for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Detriot Lions, and New York Jets. Johnson has played for some great defensive minds, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. While in the NFL, Johnson won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants.

After his playing career ended, Johnson went own to coaching. He started his coaching career with the Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Johnson coach there for 14 seasons and won three Super Bowls as a coach. After his time in New England, he moved on to coach defensive line for the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.

In 2019, Johnson coached linebackers for the Memphis Express of the AFF league.

I think this is a massive opportunity for Johnson. He will get his first chance to be a defensive coordinator on the pro level. Playing and coaching under Bill Belichick should give Johnson tremendous knowledge on how to come with good defensive game plans. Let’s see what he does as a defensive coordinator.
