The Portland Thorns visited the Orlando Pride. The game ended very differently from the way it started as Orlando took charge early in the game. The Pride took to the field and dominated the early start of play and passed the ball around and pressed the Thorns fast and hard.
As they continued to press and continued to fire shot after shot on goal Portland conceded an early corner, and with that corner, Orlando was able to take an early lead in the 10th minute from defender Toni Pressley. After this early goal, however, Portland took control and did not take their foot off the gas, they attacked and counter-attacked Orlando who was not able to withstand the pressure and conceded three unanswered goals.
The first half ended with Portland having scored in the 28th and 36th minute, and then Portland shut the door on Orlando in the 57th minute with the third and final goal of the game. Orlando continued to fight, and it showed as Marta came forward several times to press the Portland Thorns but was not able to change the flow of the game in the Orlando Pride’s favor.
Orlando Pride will look forward to their game on 5/25 against the Utah Royals in Utah.
