Juventus played host to Fiorentina over the weekend and looked to secure the Scudetto for the 8th straight season. Juventus, recently dumped from the champions league, was looking to secure their ticket to next seasons champions league with a win over Fiorentina. While Fiorentina was looking to frustrate Juventus who ran away with this seasons Scudetto, and they started quickly, thanks to a goal in the 6th minute from defender Milenkovic that shows why you need to follow deflected shots as he scored thanks to a deflected save from Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny.
Juventus, however, was not going to let the away team frustrate their plans as Alex Sandro struck in the 37th minute with a diving header, Juventus and Fiorentina went into the locker rooms at halftime tied 1-1. The second half began Juventus scored again this time thanks to Fiorentina defender Pezzella who looked to block a cross from Christiano Ronaldo to Federico Bernardeschi but instead of sending the ball away from the goal he knocked it in which helped the game ended 2-1 in favor of Juventus.
With this achievement, Juventus has secured its 8th straight Scudetto. This achievement, while expected by the Juventus faithful, cannot be understated as Juventus has now done something that has not been rivaled by teams in La Liga, the English Premier League or Juventus’ own league of Serie A. This is an excellent achievement for Juventus and while the season may be bittersweet thanks to a surprising exit from the Champions League, the team has secured their passage to next seasons competition. With the league secured Juventus can look to the transfer market and next seasons trophy targets.
