Orlando City – Colorado Rapids review

If you missed the game at Orlando City over the weekend, then sadly you missed out on a game that featured some great attacking football between Orlando City and the Colorado Rapids. The Rapid came to Orlando after having lost to the Houston Dynamo the week before, and Orlando City was looking to bounce back from a DC United loss. Neither side disappointed in that aspect as Colorado scored 3 and were able to take control for most of the game, but the moniker of the cardiac cats still apply to Orlando City as they left it late into the game for their comeback.

The game itself started quickly for Colorado as they sent a cross in front of the Orlando goal but no one was on end to convert the opportunity, but on the 9th minute Colorado’s Kei Kamara scored the first goal of the game giving the Rapid the lead. Orlando, however, was not going to just allow the Rapid an unanswered goal and the Captain, Nani scored the first Orlando goal and also his first goal in an Orlando shirt to tie the game.

He was followed by Tesho Akindele to bring the game to 2-1 at the halftime. The game, however, was delayed due to the inclement weather experienced throughout the first half of the game.  When the game resumed about an hour and a half after the end of the first half, Colorado equalized in the 61st minute through Nicolas Mezquida and was followed 10 minutes later by Cole Bassett.

The game continued, but now Orlando had to come back from a deficit again, but in the 81st minute, Chris Mueller scored a goal after having just been subbed on and helped Orlando to equalize. With it being so late in the game it could be expected that Orlando and Colorado would go to a draw, but Nani had other plans and converted his penalty chance in the 89th minute to make his goal count 2 for the game, team, and lead Orlando to a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rapid.

This win keeps the streak going for Orlando over Colorado and also gives Orlando their first home win of the 2019 season.
