On Monday, March 25th, 2019, WWE announced that The Hart Foundation would be getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2019.
The Hart Foundation is no doubt one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history. From Brett “The Hitman” Hart’s unmatched technical wrestling skills to Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart’s iconic laugh and unbridled charisma, together these two shook the world of tag team wrestling. In the words of The Hart Foundation’s own Brett Hart, they are “the best there is, the best there was, and the best they ever will be!”.
The iconic duo has a bond that goes beyond the world of pro wrestling. “The Hit Man” and “The Anvil” are actually brothers-in-law. That close connection made it easy for them to join WWE’s tag team division in 1985 alongside their manager “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart. From the moment they debuted and on, these two were not to be taken lightly.
In early 1987, The Hart Foundation were able to capture their first World Tag Team Championship by defeating The British Bulldogs with the help of Jimmy Hart and crooked official Danny Davis.
After reaching the top of the tag team mountain, The Hart Foundation soon became entangled with Jimmy Hart’s nefarious ways. In time, the team parted ways with Jimmy Hart and moved on with their career. When splitting with their manager, The Hart Foundation found themselves with a target on their back’s from Jimmy Hart and his new charges. Jimmy Hart enlisted tag teams like Demolition, The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers and more to take out The Hart Foundation.
By 1990, “The Hit Man” & “The Anvil” had fought off Jimmy Hart’s attempts to tear them down and turned their attention back to the World Tag Team Titles. After bulldozing over The Bolsheviks in seconds at WrestleMania VI, The Hart Foundation made it clear they were coming for the World Tag Team Titles. It took them a few months, but at SummerSlam 1990, The Hart Foundation defeated Demolition in an intense 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to claim their second World Tag Team Championship.
By the summer of 1991, The iconic duo parted ways. Even though the two had split, The Hart Foundation left an indelible mark on WWE’s tag team division and created many lasting memories for the WWE Universe. Reasons like that are why this legendary tag team deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Are you excited to see the Hart Foundation be immortalized in the WWE Hall of Fame? Who do you think will have the honor of inducting this legendary team?
