In week 3 of the MLS season, Orlando City Lions played host to the Montreal Impact, in an early-season clash between the two clubs. Orlando City showed great ability in making the goals when they needed in the two ties previous to this match. They were to need it as Montreal scored two goals in the 14th and 15th minute of the match with Orji Okwonkwo and Ignacio Piatti. A nasty surprise for Orlando City’s Lions as Brian Rowe the goalkeeper received a yellow card in the very next minute. In a card ridden first half Orlando City’s Shane Oneill and Montreal’s Micheal Azira also received yellow cards. As the second half got underway the cards came out yet again as both Orlando’s Danilo Acosta and Montreal’s Orji Okwonkwo received warnings in the 55th and 57th minute. In the 80th minute, Ignacio Piatti struck again as Montreal scored a third goal that all but sealed the fate of the Lions giving them their first loss of the season. However, the Lions showed that while they may have been down they were not out as Dom Dwyer scored in extra time. The game continued on and Montreal went a player down in the 6th minute of extra time as Zakaria Diallo was sent off with a red card and Orlando City’s Christian Higuita received a yellow card. The game ended with Orlando City having lost at home, but the fans of the Lions can still be happy that the team never gave up and fought even into extra time to find the back of the net. Montreal deserved their win, as they scored quickly in the first half of the game but Orlando showed that the team is willing to fight even in a losing effort.
