The UFC rolls into Wichita, Kansas Saturday night, headlined by a Heavyweight matchup that’s sure to have fans on the edge of their seats. In the main event, Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior “Cigano” dos Santos (20-5-0) will face Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (21-6-0 1 NC). Combined, these fighters have a TKO/KO winning percentage of 77.5, so it’s unlikely that this fight will reach the hands of the judges. Lewis will attempt to bounce back after his unsuccessful attempt to dethrone current champ Daniel Cormier, while dos Santos is riding a two-fight win streak, and looking to move up the rankings ladder.
The remainder of the main card has some compelling matchups and contains a mixture of both rising stars and UFC vets. The co-main has rising star Curtis Millender (17-3-0) facing off against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (20-5-0). These fighters are riding a combined winning streak of 15 fights, with the winner of this one looking at a potential Top 10 opponent in their next fight. This card also features the return of Ben Rothwell, a former Heavyweight title contender that was recently reinstated after serving a 2-year suspension from USADA.
Picks
Derrick Lewis vs Junior dos Santos
Lewis has the heart of a lion, combined with one punch power, but Junior is technically the superior fighter and should be able to wear Lewis down. Junior by KO/TKO Round 2.
Curtis Millender vs Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos
Millender will try to utilize his reach to keep to Zaleski on his heels. A strictly stand-up fight favors Millander, so Zaleski will be forced to take some chances. This one could go either way, but I think Millender gets it done. Millender by decision.
Others
Means over Price by TKO
Rothwell over Ivanov by TKO
Akhmedov over Boetsch by Decision
Upset Special
Dober over Dariush by Decision
