This weekend the Express and Legends square off. Both teams were winless going into last weekend, and both teams won. They are both going to be hungry to get another taste of victory, and it should be a good game, but I have one team ahead of the other due to one factor.
The quarterbacks are both two of the top-ranked AAF quarterbacks for my rankings, but a major thing separates Murray from Mettenberger. The Mett has a huge arm that he isn’t afraid to showcase. Murray, on the other hand, tends to rely on shorter passes. That tends to hurt Murray when going deep because his ball tends to fade a little giving defenders time to track it down. Mettenberger throws a laser of a ball and can find guys pinpoint in tight coverage.
The defensive edge goes to Memphis. Drew Jackson had a monster game last weekend and won our player of the week. I think he will bring that drive and fight back into Atlanta, seeking two wins in a row. Cornerbacks of the Express also looked good last game keeping the Express in it when the ball came their way.
Austin Macginnis, the Memphis kicker, also had a great weekend converting every field goal he attempted. He is going to be a key asset this weekend if Atlanta plays like they did last game a lot of field goals opportunities should unveil. Younghoe Koo of Atlanta is also very reliable, so when either one of these guys gets their number called know it’s pretty much clutch.
This should be a hard-fought football game to the end, but I have Memphis pulling away, and a bold prediction having Zach Mettenberger as my projected player of the week. I have the final of this one at Memphis Express 31 – Atlanta Legends 19.
