You can’t win ’em all. The San Antonio Commanders rolled into Legion Field and came away with a win. They ran the ball straight into the teeth of the defense and came out shining. Their defense exposed weakness with Perez and his struggles to beat zone coverage. The offensive line for the Iron suffered numerous injuries throughout the contest. But there were some bright spots for the Iron on a gloomy and cold day.
- TE Wes Saxton: He showed the ability to catch the ball in traffic and sure-handedness. He ran solid routes and was decent in run blocking.
- RB Brandon Ross: Ross showed explosive ability and a quick first step. He led the team in rushing and was the better back that day. With another spot opened up for an available player Ross was able to get involved on both special teams and ran the ball very well.
- Iron makes another amazing goal-line stand. The Commanders tried and tried as they might but couldn’t break the plain in the 4th quarter. The defense struggled between the 20s to stop the run, but we’re as usual quite effective against the pass.
Oh you thought you’d get a touchdown on the Iron Curtain? Think again.
