Champions League Round Of 16 Has Begun

With the first leg of the champions league round of 16 starting this week there are some interesting implications for the second leg matches. In the first match, Roma triumphed over Porto football club. Nicolo Zaniolo scored in the 70th and 76th minute to give Roma 2 goals at the Stadio Olimpico but all was not lost for Porto as they were able to draw one goal back in the 79th minute and can look forward to a home crowd to help them in what they hope will be a great comeback for the club. With the result for the Stadio Olimpico in the books, the other match of the day was at Old Trafford with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) traveling to face Manchester United in their home. Manchester United, however, was unable to hold back the attack of PSG as Presnel Kimpembe scored first for the visitors in the 53rd minute and was followed by Kylian Mbappe just 7 minutes later, to end a dismal night for United fans Paul Pogba was given a red card in the 89th minute of the match. Tottenham Hotspurs football club faced Borussia Dortmund at Wembley stadium. Tottenham was held for the first half, but thanks to Son Heung Min Tottenham broke the deadlock in the 47th minute of the game, Borussia Dortmund continued to fight but a goal in the 83rd minute by Jan Vertonghen and a third goal in the 86th minute by Fernando Llorente sealed the game for Tottenham. Ajax faced the reigning champions Real Madrid at the Amsterdam Arena; both teams went in at half time held to a draw until Karim Benzema delivered a goal for Real Madrid in the 60th minute. The hosts drew level in the 75th minute thanks to a goal from midfielder Hakim Zayech, but Real Madrid continued to fight and was rewarded with an 87th-minute goal from Marco Asensio to leave the Amsterdam Arena winners. The remaining eight teams will face off next week with Olympique Lyonnais facing Barcelona football club at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais at 3 pm on February 19 with Liverpool hosting Bayern Munich at Anfield at the same time. The following day showcases Atletico Madrid face Juventus at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid and Schalke 04 play host to Manchester City at the Veltins Arena.
