Preseason is coming to a close and Orlando City completed their training at the IMG Arena with a scrimmage against the New York Red Bulls. The scrimmage ended in a 1-1 draw which is better than the last time these teams met during last year’s regular season where the Red Bulls ran out 1-0 winners at home. With this result Coach O’Connor was happy to see some of the younger players get some time in the game and help the team to a draw at the end of a very hard preseason for the Lions. After this game, the fans of Orlando City can look forward to the Orlando City Invitational on February 16, 2019 against New York City Football Club and February 20, 2019 against the New England Revolution. Both teams beat the Lions last season, so Orlando City fans can look forward to the potential for some revenge. The tournament will also feature Minnesota United who will play NYC FC and New England Revolution, the tournament will be held at the Orlando City Stadium and will allow fans to get a good look at the work that Orlando City has put into their preseason work. The first regular season game will open at Orlando City stadium and will show the return of NYC FC to Orlando City for the regular season. NYC FC has recently announced the signing of Alexandru Mitrita a Romanian International recently signed from Universitatea Craiova where he scored 16 and provided 4 assists in 38 outings for the club, the end of preseason is looming and fans of MLS will have a lot to look forward to this season.
