How Can I Watch the Game?

Week 1 will be on CBS Sports Network. The Atlanta Legends vs. Orlando Apollos will also be on CBS Network. Therefore, you will be able to watch the Fleet game if you are local to either team or as long as you are closer to San Antonio and San Diego than you are closer to Atlanta and Orlando.

The AAF app will also be streaming the games in an animated form, but the app has yet to be released.

What Does Vegas Think?

Las Vegas has the spread as follows: Over/Under of 64.5 Commanders -3. Therefore, according to the official predicted score, Vegas has, Commanders 34, Fleet 31.

In this segment, I will break down the strengths of both teams depth charts.

San Diego Fleet:

Qb Mike Bercovici has earned the starting role for week 1. This is excellent news for San Diego. As seen in my Quarterback breakdown article, Bercovici is a talented young man with a lot to bring to the AAF. San Diego fans should feel amazing about the quarterback that they have as he ranks at least top 3 in AAF quarterbacks.

No surprises that the starting Reciever for the Fleet would be Kameron Kelly. The man has been an absolute beast in training camp and will get his chance to shine with the starting role. The Fleet are packing on some talented receivers with Francis Owuso as the #2 and Nelson Spruce at the Slot. Not to mention that Gavin Escobar got the starting Tight End role and will be a serious threat up the middle. Expect the Fleet to pass the ball a lot to the great pass catchers simply because Bishop Sankey is on the IR. If the Fleet can’t get the passing game going, it sure will be a nightmare.

Defensively the Fleet are somewhat lackluster. Losing Kam Kelly to the receiver role hurt the secondary. Still, the Fleet have some talented guys on the defense including Middle Linebacker A.J Tarpley, Cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah and Left End Damontre Moore. The Fleet’s defense isn’t flashy, but if they can hold the Commanders to under 30 points, they have a legitimate chance.

San Antonio Commanders:

San Antonio has some big names with big talent. The Quarterback situation isn’t great which is good news for the Fleet. Greg Ward Jr is a great player, and it will be interesting to see how San Diego controls him on defense. The main goal for San Antonio would be to score a lot and pray on defense. This could definitely be the highest scoring game on the weekend if the Fleet and Commanders can’t play defense.

Final Take:

The Commanders have a really good offense and a decent defense. The Fleet have a really good offense and decent defense. It’s week one, and nothing is really known. I believe this will be the closest game of the week and I have San Diego winning 33-32.
