High Hopes for Orlando City Soccer Club

Last season was a tough one for Orlando City Soccer Club. They were unable to make it to the playoffs and the defense allowed over 74 goals in what would be a dismal season for the fans of the Lions. But, with a new season comes new hope and there are a number of things for the fans of Orlando to look forward to. Head Coach James O’Connor is excited for the season to start and has been encouraged by the player’s attitudes and their work rates during the preseason and their first match.

Coach O’Connor has been stressing the basics of defense and offense that has been missing in matches with Orlando. Fans of Orlando City can be encouraged by this, as James O’Connor has proven that he can win with other clubs and it sounds like the players are buying into what the coach has brought to training. Another encouragement is that Orlando City has not been idle in looking for good attacking players to add to their roster and it seems like they have their eyes set on Diego. He is a Former Brazilian international that has won championships internationally and at club level. Adding players like this will add to the attacking power the club has in Dom Dwyer.

With the number of goals allowed last season, Orlando City will look to replace Joe Bendik, after sending him to Colombus City, with goalkeepers Adam Grinwis and Greg Ranjitsingh. While the starting position is still open, all bets are on Adam Grinwis to step in for the season opener. With the amount of training and the excitement that the team has, hopefully, this season we can see the Lions move into the playoffs.

Orlando City SC starts their season at home February 16 and will be facing New York City FC.
