With the all the AAF team practices in full swing, the Memphis Express have been looking dangerous from every aspect.
The quarterback room seemingly led by Zach Mettenberger has seemed like he has the most to prove. Mettenberger at practice on Friday, went 4 for 4 in the two-minute drill scenario. His drive ended with a deep ball down the right sideline being completed by Reece Horn who had some fantastic footwork to step inside the pylon for a touchdown.
On the opposite side of the ball, cornerback Tyree Robinson is looking phenomenal. Robinson hauled in four interceptions Friday! Fellow cornerbacks Channing Stribling, and Travell Dixon looked good. Both players can provide excellent coverage on receivers, Stribling and Dixon both had an interception on the day.
On special teams, Express kicker Josh Jasper went four of five on his field goal attempts, having a long of 38 yards. In college at LSU, Jasper was always very reliable, so that one short miss should not be held against him.
At this point in practice, I still have Zach Mettenberger as the man to beat for the starting role. Mettenberger is showing he has what it takes and he should not be taken lightly.
Who do you have as the starting quarterback for the Memphis Express?
