BREAKING: Finn Balor To Face Brock Lesnar At The Royal Rumble Instead Of Braun Strowman

At the opening of Monday Night RAW on January 14th, 2019, Braun Strowman came out to cut a promo against Brock Lesnar. This was followed by an interruption by Baron Corbin. Corbin came out to talk smack about Braun Strowman. Tired of hearing Corbin run his mouth, Braun Strowman left the ring to chase Corbin. Corbin ran away to the backstage area to hide away from Braun. Shortly after, with some help from Elias, it was revealed that Corbin had hidden inside of Mr.McMahon’s limo. Braun Strowman took it upon himself to smash the window of the limo and rip the door off to get Corbin to come out. After doing so, Corbin ran away once again.

After Corbin ran away, Vince McMahon appeared next to the limo in shock of what Strowman had done to his limo. Vince had some choice words for Strowman and then proceeded to fine Strowman with $100,000 to pay for the damages. Braun responded angrily saying “this piece of crap’s not worth $100,000!”. Vince responded by removing Braun Strowman from his Universal Title match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

With Braun Strowman being removed from the match, this left the question of who was going to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble. Later on in the night, Vince McMahon answered this question by creating a Fatal-4-Way match between John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Finn Balor. The winner of this match would become the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship and face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Featuring some of the biggest talents in WWE today, this made for quite the match. In the end, Finn Balor pinned John Cena after successfully landing his finishing move the “Coupe De Grace” to become the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship.

After the match, this happened:

For those of you who don’t know, Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins at Summer Slam back in  2016 to become the very first Universal Champion. His championship reign was short lived as he had to relinquish the title the following night due to an injury that he had suffered during the match against Seth Rollins. Finn Balor was on the shelf for over a year before he returned to a WWE ring. Since he’s returned, he hasn’t really been seen in the Main Event scene in WWE. At the same time, he hasn’t really been given the chance to reclaim the title that he never lost. So, for Finn Balor, winning this Fatal-4-Way matchup to become the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship is HUGE!

#BalorVSTheBeast is finally happening! How do you feel about Finn Balor finally getting his opportunity to reclaim the title that he never lost?
