With multiple teams needing a QB this season, I think AJ McCarron has to be the best choice out there. He is a veteran QB who can learn any playbook quickly and could be a great asset to a team for many years to come.
I think the Bengals, Jaguars, and Dolphins are the top three destinations for him, and all three of these teams have a veteran quarterback that is not living up to expectation.
AJ McCarron has one of the best abilities to read a defense I have seen. He also has an accurate and strong arm. But his best trait is his accuracy. He can fit the ball to his man in double coverage, and in big situations is where he really shines. Being a member of an NCCA Championship while with the Alabama Crimson Tide, AJ knows how to find victory.
A reunion with the Bengals could just be what Cincinnati needs to become a playoff contender and more! Andy Dalton has seemingly become a fallible option due to lack of consistency and injuries. Dalton’s injuries left the Bengals to AJ McCarron in the wild-card game against the Steelers in 2016. McCarron would have led that Bengals team to victory if it wasn’t for his defense falling apart towards the end. The Bengals already have a great WR corps with A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, John Ross, and Alex Erickson, who is underrated.
The Jaguars could be an instant playoff team with AJ. Blake Bortles is seemingly coming to the end of his time in Jacksonville. I think McCarron is just who they need to turn this team into the team they were last year.
The defense in Jacksonville also fell apart this season after being one of the strongest in the league last year, beating the Steelers in playoffs. This season, however, they have underperformed, but I think 2019 will be a huge rebound year for them. With AJ McCarron, they could be right back in Super Bowl contention again.
Miami is another team with a lot of young talent. With Kenyan Drake, who is also a Bama alma mater, I think the Bama duo could quickly become one the most dangerous pairs in the league.
Lastly, the Dolphins for the past 10 years have finished somewhere between 6-10 and 10-6 making them one of the most consistently mediocre teams in the league. That could be a product of average quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who is most likely not staying in Miami.
With the addition of AJ McCarron, they can become great and even take an aging New England in the division.
