The PFL will add its first Women’s division for its second season in 2019. To most, this is not the weight division expected. The announcement also came with news that two-time Olympic Gold medalist Kayla Harrison (2-0) signed an exclusive deal with the Professional Fighters League.
The idea of a Women’s 155-pound division sounds like a fun idea. PFL President Carlos Silva said he is confident the PFL can sign enough women before the season begins. This will be much easier said than done as seen with the slow growth of the Women’s Featherweight division.
As the Professional Fighters League continues to think outside the box to separate itself from other promotions, only time will tell if the right moves were made. The company already has its star for the division in Kayla Harrison. She is expected to fight one more time before the year ends.
The PFL playoffs begin on October 5th on NBCSN.
